Ear Symptoms and Dizziness Aren't Always an Ear Problem
Dolores says she couldn't sleep well and had frequent headaches, neck pain, dizziness, tinnitus and ear problems. She assumed it was an ear infection. Her regular doctor first mentioned stress.
She learned that the cause was not what she expected. Her jaws were tensing and clenching at night, and she was grinding her teeth, which she says was behind all the tension. Her regular doctor referred her to her dentist, and her dentist referred her to Dr. Fernandez.
The jaw joints sit right next to the ears, and the muscles that clench and grind connect to the head and neck. That is why clenching can sometimes show up as ear pressure, dizziness, headaches or neck pain. Other causes are always ruled out first, and a custom oral appliance is a conservative, reversible place to begin.
