When Tooth Pain and Headaches Show Up Together
Mike came in with recent tooth pain and headaches. After an evaluation, he was fitted with a splint.
Tooth pain and headaches can have many causes, which is why a careful evaluation matters. In some people, clenching or grinding, often during sleep, puts ongoing strain on the teeth, jaw muscles and joints, and that strain can show up as sore teeth, headaches or poor sleep.
When that is part of the picture, a custom oral appliance is often where we start: a conservative, reversible way to take pressure off the teeth and jaw before anything more involved is considered.
Mike has been wearing his splint for two weeks. In his words, it has been great: all of his symptoms have gone away, and he has been sleeping better. Results vary from person to person, and every case starts with an evaluation to find out what is actually causing the symptoms.
Mike finished his video the way many of our patients do: with a simple thank you.
